Marquetry Pictures
Marquetry is the craft of making pictures using wood veneers, ivory, and shells. The natural wood colors, grain, and figure are used to create the picture. Marquetry is an ancient art, thought to have been developed in Egypt and the orient. Much of modern marquetry is mass produced using computers and laser cutters. I do my marquetry using a scroll saw and knives, so that each piece is one of a kind custom art. The technique that I use was developed in Italy during the Renaissance and perfected over the past centuries. The pictures can be bought to decorate your house or business, or we will place them on furniture or mantels.
Every piece that I make is a one of a kind piece, so those shown in the gallery are representative of some of the subjects from the past. You can choose any subject and size that you want for your picture. Cost will vary based on detail of the picture more than size.
